Ultra-secure Ruggedised Portable Hard Drives Now Available From Protape
London, UK, June 2008: Soho-based data storage and media specialists Protape are pleased to introduce the Olixir range of secure hard drives to the UK’s video production and post-production markets. Founded in Silicon Valley in 2001, Olixir have rapidly gained a reputation for producing toughened, shock-resistant drives that can be relied upon to securely store commercially significant data — be it financial records, video, photographs or audio. Many of the company's drives meet and exceed the stringent requirements of military authorities and government
organisations in the US for data security and resistance to shock — Olixir claim their drives remain error-free when subjected to accelerative forces of up to 1200g.
Protape are already stocking Olixir's 3DX portable drive in their Soho shop and at their on-line store, located at www.datastores.co.uk. The hard-wearing 3DX drive operates at 7200rpm with an 8MB data buffer and delivers a sustained data transfer rate of up to 45MB/s, depending on the connection used: USB 2.0, Firewire or SATA/eSATA connections are supported. The Olixir 3DX is available from Protape in capacities of 160GB, 250GB, 500GB and 750GB, with prices starting at around £150, and comes with a three-year warranty.
